Terms of Service

1. The service
Order Relay is a BigCommerce app operated by Andrew Block, trading as Plugin Bakery, a sole proprietorship based in California, United States. It posts notifications about your orders to chat channels you choose.
It depends on BigCommerce and on the chat service you select. It is a notification tool, not a record of your orders. BigCommerce holds the authoritative record.
By installing it, you agree to these terms.
2. What we don't guarantee
We cannot guarantee every order produces a notification. Notifications can be missed for reasons inside and outside our control:
- BigCommerce may stop sending us order events. This has happened, and BigCommerce does not re-send events from an outage.
- Discord may refuse or rate-limit a message.
- A webhook may be deleted in Discord, or a channel removed.
- Your own rules may exclude an order.
- Orders created outside your storefront, such as through a marketplace channel or the API, may not produce an event we can act on.
During our maintenance windows, notifications are delayed rather than lost — typically by about a minute.
Do not rely on Order Relay as your only record of an order, or as a system of record for fulfilment. Check BigCommerce.
3. Your responsibilities
- Who sees your channels. You control access to your chat channels. We cannot.
- What you choose to show. Customer email and shipping location are off by default. Turning them on is your decision, and your own obligations to your customers apply.
- Your legal basis. Showing customer details to your staff is your responsibility to justify under the law that applies to you.
- Keeping webhook URLs secret. Anyone holding one can post into that channel. We will never ask you for one.
- Your store and products. Your compliance obligations are yours.
4. Data processing
How we handle data is set out in our Privacy Policy. For your customers' data we act as a processor on your instructions, which are the settings you choose in the app.
We do not currently offer a Data Processing Agreement or Standard Contractual Clauses. Order Relay is operated by one person in the United States. If your legal obligations require a signed DPA, SCCs, or data residency outside the United States, Order Relay is not suitable for your store, and you should not install it.
5. Fees
Order Relay is currently free. There is no charge to install or use it, and no payment details are collected.
We may introduce paid features in future. If we do, we will give notice in the app before anything you already use starts costing money, and features you rely on today will not be moved behind a charge without that notice.
6. Availability
We provide the service on a best-efforts basis. We deploy updates with short maintenance windows, during which notifications are delayed rather than lost. We don't promise a particular level of uptime, and there is no service level agreement.
7. Acceptable use
Don't attempt to disrupt the service, access other merchants' data, or use the app to send content you have no right to send. We may suspend access to protect the service or other merchants.
8. Ending the service
You can uninstall at any time, from your BigCommerce control panel. Notifications stop immediately.
We may suspend or end your access if you breach these terms, or if we discontinue the app. If we discontinue it, we will give at least 30 days' notice in the app where we can.

9. Disclaimer and liability
Order Relay is provided free of charge, "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or that every notification will be delivered.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, sales, data, or business opportunity, arising out of or related to your use of Order Relay — including any order you did not learn about because a notification was not delivered.
Our total aggregate liability for any and all claims is limited to one hundred US dollars ($100).
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of certain damages. Where that applies, the above limitations apply to the fullest extent permitted, and nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
10. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim arising out of your use of Order Relay, including claims by your customers about information you chose to display in your chat channels.
11. Changes
We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced in the app. Continuing to use the service after that means accepting them.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Riverside County, California.
